Boyd's Own Paper

Boyd's Own Paper

Three SpAds, One No 10, two MI5s, and some special fried rice - but cut the MSG

It's also a PGA tour and there are many, many other initialisms.

Does someone in No 10 read Boyd’s Own Paper? Following endless comments and jibes by this organ about the Government’s lack of spine in controlling China’s UK Espionage efforts, MI5 has stepped up to the plate!

Three “partners” or whatever the modern word is, of sitting and former Labour MPs have been nicked for spying. One of them is the husband of Scottish Labour MP Joani Reida, who represents East Kilbride and Strathaven and who sits on the Home Affairs Select Committee She said she is “not part of” her husband David Taylor’s business activities and added: “My children nor I are part of this investigation, and we should not be treated by media organisations as though we are. Above all, I expect media organisations to respect my children’s privacy.” Hmm, good luck with that plea, poor old darling. David Taylor was a SpAd to Peter Hain when he was Welsh secretary, and also previously worked for Senedd member Leighton Andrews when he was a backbencher. He was also selected as Labour’s candidate for police and crime commissioner in North Wales in 2016.

The three are suspected of “Chinese foreign interference relating to British democracy”. 5’s statement adds that if proven: “…we will impose severe consequences and hold all involved actors to account.”

The chances are that the charges won't stick on the Trumpian grounds that a Scottish Labour MP has so little influence on anyone from voter to Front Bench that they cannot possibly be guilty of anything.

I seem to have spent most of the week so far tripping over Trump analogies to historical figures - I might make a quiz out of them.

Q1. What do Marcus Tullius Cicero in 52BC in 52BC, and The Don in 2026 have in common in legal opinion terms?
