As brouhas go, the last race at the 2026 Perth Festival hardly ranks alongside the Straits of Hormuz, or the USA’s Diplomatic Corps preparing for King Charles visit by trying to grab the potential oil and mineral rights of the Falklands. Nonetheless, there was a brouhaha, involving the wrong horse winning a photo-finish and thus, in the Racing Post’s slightly hysterical tones, marring the entire three-day festival.
