I am not overly inclined to offer a view on any subject where the subject matter and resulting opinions are largely driven by vox populi. It is a deeply unreliable voice, easily swayed by the rhetoric of social media, the self-fulfilling prophecy of which is embedded in the concept of (self-important) “influencers”.
If you want to see whyVox Populi is so inherently wrong, then simply recollect Marc Anthony’s speech.
Adding to its unreliability is the fact that politicians always listen to it when it suits their agenda, and ignore it as “ill-informed” when it comes to hanging terrorists, paedos and badger-baiters.
The added problem is that Vox Populi also sells papers and benefits anyone with an ad space to sell. Coupled with what passes for journalism these days - express your personal opinion and add a rising inflexion at the end as though it were a question - and everyone is desperately keen to talk ourselves out of 2000 years of British history. Why?
In the case of PA aka AMW aka The Duke - what do we actually know for a fact?
He has NOT been CHARGED with ANY criminal offence.
He has NOT been TRIED in a court of law for ANY criminal offence
He no longer has any position, title, role, influence, or status other than being an unemployed white male aged 66.
He might still be a member of Whites, but every other Club in London has revoked his membership.
His reputation is now so tarnished that he cannot be given any position of trust, employment, or charitable involvement of any type.
He is as near resting in the comparative gutter as it is possible to get, without the family giving him a cottage to live in.
He cannot possibly make any difference to our lives, other than our continuing to demand some kind of retribution for an unseen, unknown, and unexperienced damage.
He was friends with a total dodgepot and sexual predator and his unsavoury girlfriend, who I suspect has rather deep-rooted Daddy issues.
Yet we continue to kick him as he lies on the ground - and through him every other member of the Windsor clan. It is not about compassion - I have none. It is simply that I find it shameful or demeaning to behave like that.
Yes, I think he’s an arrogant numpty who married someone with no off-switch, and she was bred by another wrong-un. Yes, I think AMW is one of those Nobs who was desperate to make his mark and unsatisfied with simply flying choppers and being a jolly sailor. Many Nobs like that end up in the company of wrong-uns who turn them into unwitting shills for their bigger game. The Nob thinks he is influential, not recognising that he’s simply being used as a bag carrier and door opener. I have met him; I didn’t like him and turned down his offer to join the In and Out, largely because I find that when people mention a newly-installed Sauna too many times, I tend to feel uncomfortable.
So I think that’s all we need to know, isn’t it?
So he’s Guilty as not charged. Let’s boot him and all his kind out, and replace them with elected officials we can trust. Like Sadiq Khan, Trump and Johnson. They’d all make marvellous Presidents. What about a Farage, Orban or a Le Pen?
No, we are in very real danger of letting Vox indocti populi lead us into a world of pain, expense and misery.
I wouldn't be surprised if he handed over not very important papers to Epstein, who may yet turn out to have been the greatest Master Spy ever trained by the KGB. I wouldn’t be surprised if AMW saw himself as the sexiest man in any room. I wouldn’t be surprised if you told me that he’d been blackmailed…
But frankly, the number of people we see in the news every day, who one might have thought had committed misconduct in public office and yet never seen to face charges, beggars belief. Post Office Fujitsu Cover-Ups and Perverting the Course of Justice? Nil. The NHS Blood Scandal cover-up and perverting the course of justice. Nil. The continued failure to investigate the public office holders involved in the nationwide Grooming Gangs scandal. Nil. And so on and so on.
WAKE UP
Handing over secret papers to foreign nationals has been going on in the UK, unfettered, for the last 50 years. On the very rare occasions we catch a spy, we can’t even prosecute them properly. We have already lost the Game. Andrew’s rank stupidity and lack of moral compass are of no importance at all in either security terms or national prestige terms.
Instead, support HM The King, who has been let down by his brother and, I imagine, some advisers. Support HRH The Prince of Wales, who would be better served by not discussing mental health issues 24/7 and by getting back to the daily grind of relentless public service, like his aunt.
And to Vox vulgi fatui? Grow Up.
