My moral conundrums - should I pay my bookmaker or the tailor - or plan a holiday?
I am spending too much time in the quieter moments trying to get my head around two statements I heard the other day.
Ideology has replaced Morality.
The Rule of Law depends on the Consent of the People.
In very simple terms, both are apropos to many of the news stories of the past couple of months. The self-righteous cant of the weak and useless PM; the posturing of Miliband’s pointless and illogical justifications for his actions and policies; the constant half-truths and dissembling of every political party and every politician’s belief from town hall to Downing Street that they are an intellectual elite and that the public is stupid. Thus, every news story supports the first statement.
