A phone call after the third lot from my man in the yard, who tells me that the noise I can hear from across the Downs are the dogs all barking about Constitution Hill’s work today, where he was all over Sir Gino like a bad rash. Hendo was thrilled - the money was down and my man demands to know “…why aren’t ya on ya slow fecker?” Well, I‘ll tell you why, my old Irish China, he’s got to get there first, and despite your news that he’s in excellent fettle, 7/2 isn’t frighteningly sexy, AND I’d like a clearer picture of everyone’s plans for Christmas. Who is going to go for the Christmas Hurdle? The Matheson? Is Sir Gino even staying in hurdling - I’ve also heard from another source that Nicky is thinking of Novice Chasing. Then there is STATE MAN and BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD, with the latter more likely, I would have thought, to go for the Mares at Cheltenham. I’ll keep my powder dry now and decide before New Year’s Day.
