As the wheels on the No 10 from Whitehall to Hell fall off the poorly maintained and deeply unreliable jalopy, we can whizz over to Punchestown and take refuge in the seemingly endless good humour and charm. Even the politicians who loathe us still seem to manage some goodwill. I have already seen my favourite quote of the week with Ted Walsh declaring that it would need to snow for a week at Punchestown for him to become Champion Trainer even with him leading the table by £150k - but that might be Euros…
