It is quite possible, and entirely proper, that in this green and pleasant land, in the height of summer, that you be unaware or unconcerned about the erosion of our legal system, by an elite of socialist lawyers. It’s out of sight because, after all, the little so-and-sos have all gone home for the summer and are sitting on Skeggy beach sucking their Calypos or Magnums. The politicians, not on holiday, are preparing to meet Trump, the rioters are getting their balaclavas ready, Old Bill is revising sentencing guidelines for Labour Voters and kettling procedures for WASPs. All is well in Blighty, as another summer of Discontent arrives. In fact, nothing can impede the natural and expected progress of drought, riot, and discontent, including unexpected medical appointments to spoil the day.

However, that chipping sound you can hear, isn’t Cicadas. I t’s the sound of yet another tunnel being dug under the foundations of our common law and democratic principles.
