What a fab weekend of sporting action. A pack of British and Irish Lions beating the Wallabies in the last nanosecond; Brit drivers looked good in Belgium at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, won by a Brit F1 racing team. A Brit won the Darts, the Lionesses won the Footy (tiny hint of skin of the teeth especially given that in the total time of the knockout stages, England was only ahead for a total of 4 minutes and 52 seconds). OK, the Cricket was bound to be a struggle after the effort put into the third test, and one can only hope that Stokes’ rotator cuff is fixable, or at least manageable for the fifth. That said, the Indian team should be hugely congratulated on their determination, focus, patience and tenacity to produce only the second draw in 40 tests under Stokes captaincy since 2022 - both on which were on this ground (as were all four of Lancashire’s county championship matches this season).

Where possible I will show workings, but as I am travelling, burying, dining, lunching, socialising, I am limited in the access of my writing machinery and technology. Incidentally, great service tip… when travelling on the motorway, cruising alongside a bus allows your passengers to log onto the buses’ mobile Wi-Fi system and upload or download whatever files you need to manage. Just a thought.

Talking of trying to avoid crashes whilst keeping one’s eyes firmly on the ball, here are my selections for Day 1 of Glorious.
