I feel rather ashamed. I am having one of th1e worst Goodwoods ever regarding selections, form and luck. Every statistic seems to have been overturned, and every favourite backed by Boyd has not only lost but appears to have given up racing and taken to rambling.
Underneath each post, you’ll find a footnote summary of our performance in that particular dispatch, and it is dismal. We came so close with our exotics—the right idea, the wrong order. The single-digit draw stat was perfect—except this was the year it became double digits. Still, I suppose the Olympics are going well, and we still have some hopes in the Golf.
Sandy Lane sent me his four selections, and my travel arrangements admittedly delayed posting those tips. He gave us COLLIN MORIKAWA (40/1 after the first round now 70/1); JON RAHM (10/1 now 11/2); LUDVIG ABERG (20/1 now 90/1) and TOM KIM (16/1 now 18/1). Rahm is lying 4th and Kim is lying 5th. From a medal perspective, Tommy Fleetwood would be great for Britain, but Kim’s golf today was very determined and took risky shots to try and improve on the leader. Fingers crossed.
Meanwhile, a sharp note arrives from one of the recent subscribers, Lady Cordelia Decollete, who metaphorically smacks my botty for not having the tips on her breakfast table when the soft-boiled eggs are being served. I’m tempted to say, “Keep your Tips off the table,” but instead, I have to apologise and simply say that tempus fugits, especially when trying to get it right.
Please God, I have spent my time wisely today
