As you can probably tell, I’m still getting used to this new Substack system. Much like Platform 9¾ at King's Cross Station, I constantly have to run at the wall to see where it goes, and then I’m unable to see where I’ve been because I have gone through the wall.
That means I can’t see what you see—or, more accurately, I don’t know how to see what you see. It’s a very uncomfortable feeling, much like being a vet. There could be a problem, but the patient can’t communicate! So please, my cherubs, if you have any issues or do not “get” some element of the layout, set-up, etc., drop me a line. Oh yes, that’s another thing…
I have an email address, but I haven’t yet connected it to an MS or Google account, which is coming. Part of that delay is down to the algorithms constantly in use whenever one signs up. Google decided that I was a multi-millionaire publishing company and wanted my head of HR to send them a list of the 30,000 employees globally and whether they all wanted Zoom and TikTok access. I tried to explain that it was just me and that I wanted a mailbox managed - much as they have done with other stuff. Then I had to go to talk to some Community Chat Room to discuss my problems, much like an AA meeting. Then a man told me it would all resolve itself in two weeks… next Thursday, as far as I can make out.
In the meantime, if you do have any problems, send a note to me at raceweb.com. So, having just had two winners of Day 1 for a profit of 23+ pts, here are the selections for Day 2.
Just think - if you were a subscriber for the whole year, you could have all the golfing bets, Capt. Kneesups, racing tips, and me!

I have a short list of four horses for this, and having seen him lose his last race due to jockey error, I’m tempted by ATTILA THE HONEY. Franny Norton was on board LTO in The Brown Jack and thought he had the whole thing in the bag. He looked over his left shoulder whilst Oisin Murphy on the favourite went past on his right, and by the time he got going, it was all over. Yes, I am talking through my pocket… can you tell? Buick will not make the same mistake, but the only problem is Oisin could do the same again on SUBSEQUENT. He won his debut handicap but was slowly away and took far too keen a hold when he did get going. Silvestre de Souza did well to get him to win by ½l, and he worries me. He gets the ride this time on GOODWOOD ODYSSEY, who was third LTO at Newmarket. It is a race that might turn out to have a bit of depth to it, with a winner already. He gets first-time blinkers to help get the focus in place, whilst the Gosden’s run LORD OF LOVE who hung right LTO when he beat GOODWOOD ODYSSEY by 1½l. He gets 4lb, and the winner is, I think, in this group.
Dutch ATILLA THE HONEY and GOODWOOD ODYSSEY 7 pts - The pair to beat LORD OF LOVE or SUBSEQUENT 4 x ½pt SFC.

Another short list of four. KATHMANDU - VETIVER - FAIR ANGELICA - BREEGE.
KATHMANDU was 2nd in the French 1,000 Guineas, and was then 3½l 5th of 12 in the G1 Prix Jean Prat (7f) at Deauville LTO. A decent draw in 2 and some strong form lines - but more the fact that Brian sends very few to Goodwood - and when he does, you sit up and take notice. This drop in class and step up in distance must suit. FAIR ANGELICA has the best 3-year-old form and has been really consistent with the Sandringham, really the only blot on her copybook.
KATHMANDU 5 pts Win
