Dear Mr Murdoch
I am very much enjoying your ratings, which are proving to be a Godsend in slowing down my senility, as I try to work out what it all means.
But I did notice that yesterday you tipped BILLY MILL, who was 6/1 in the morning, and then you say he is a no-bet later. What on earth is going on?
Also, will you be introducing Page 3 Jockeys soon?
Yours Faithfully
Monsignor Frescobaldi - St Publius Church, Nuneaten.
Dear Monsignor Frescobaldi,
I think I met your mother in 1945… did she ever live in Pisa?
In answer to your question, our recommendations are based on the price available at the time of writing. Put plainly, that means some get on in time, and some don’t, so we simply think it is better and fairer to work on SPs. We also suggest an e/w bet because our ratings, from which our tips are derived, are still a work in progress and because we want to find value. So our selection criteria is to back our recommendations 1 pt e/w only if the price is 11/2 - 16/1. Now, if you see a selection has shortened, you can take a view, but once it has dropped, as happened yesterday to 3/1, the value has gone as the result suggested.
I hope that clears that up, and no to the Page 3 Jockeys. What sort of Fan are you?
Regards, Lord Rupert of Outback.
