An Open Letter to David Lammy
Plus Annabel's in Mayfair, Gordon Ellioot's press day, a brace of tips and a feeling of dread.
Formal Letter to the Foreign Secretary
To: The Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs
From: The Editor and Proprietor: Boyd’s Own Paper
Date: 20 January 2026
Subject: Urgent Review of the UK-Mauritius Treaty Regarding the Chagos Archipelago
Dear Foreign Secretary,
I am writing to formally express grave concerns regarding the Government’s decision to cede legal sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago to Mauritius. As evidenced by recent international developments, this treaty represents a financial, strategic and ethical miscalculation that weakens Britain’s standing in the Indian Ocean and undermines our most critical security alliances.
